Thank you to our sponsors:
Dear Kickballers:
Welcome to DC! We are happy to announce that 22 teams from up and down the east coast will be competing in the first annual Kickball365 Open Tournament. Thank you for being a part of our first event and we look forward to many more tournaments to come in our Nation’s Capital!
The weekend’s festivities will kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening, with a Meet & Greet at Grand Central Bar in the Adams Morgan neighborhood! We will enjoy some good food and drink, meet some fellow competitors, and draw the placements for the Pool Play games. Grand Central is accessible via Metro’s Red Line to the Woodley Park stop or via cab. You can find additional directions within this Packet.
Due to the increased number of teams, we will begin on Saturday morning bright and early to ensure we can get through all pool play and tourney brackets before the sun goes down! We will start with a Captain’s meeting at the field’s command center at 7:30 a.m. We expect to begin pool play at 8:00 a.m. Additionally, we have partnered with KickballLegends.com to launch the Kickball365 Open Tournament Fan Poll. Head over to http://www.kickballlegends.com/k365openpoll/ to vote for your team!
We’ll celebrate on Saturday night, beginning at 8:00 p.m. at Eighteenth & Red Bar in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. The bar is accessible via Metro’s Red Line to the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan station, Dupont Circle station (Q Street exit), or via cab. You can find additional directions within this Packet.
The tourney weekend will conclude with a Nats/Cubs game at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday at Nationals Park for those who have purchased tickets. All kickballers who purchased tickets should meet outside the Center Field gate at 1:00 p.m. You can find additional details within this Packet.
We know this will be a great weekend and are looking forward to seeing you all in DC on the 18th!! If you have any questions, please feel free to send your inquiries to contactus@kickball365.com.

North of Ohio Dr SW will host Fields #1-4
Hains Point will host Fields #5-11
The bottom portion of Hains Point, also referred to as East Potomac Park.
Please note that the fields are 1.5 miles apart.
We plan to offer carpools to/from the two locations. However, it is highly encouraged to bring a van if you have one for your team. We would like to encourage everyone to assist with escorting the players & refs back and forth.

There will be a official tent at this location to assist with refs, standings, etc.
Fields #5-11, at the end of Ohio Dr. “Hains Point”
Location of Official Check-in, Lunch, etc.

Pool Play
Team selection for pools will take place at Friday's Meet & Greet.
Five pools have been organized in Regions - numbered 1 through 5.
After Pool Play seedings will be selected at random.
The organizers of this event have structured “Regions”, roughly based on where the teams come from, which will allow us to randomly select from each Region to place in a Pool. Once the Pool Play Selection is drawn we will have our game schedule for the Pool Play games.
Pool play rounds will be 50 minutes long, with a 10 minute break between rounds.
A horn will be sounded to signal the beginning and ending of each game.
At the end of 50 minutes, the score goes to the last completed inning. Please report your official score to your Head Ref at the end of each game.
There will be no overtime or tie breakers for Pool Play.
Pool Play: Regions for Pool Selection
The following regions are how we have sorted the teams for the Kickball365 Open Tournament. This is NOT your Pool. Teams will be chosen randomly from each region to form the pools. The first four pools will have one team from each region (for a total of 4 teams), with the remaining pool having the remaining 6 teams.
Northeast Region Tidewater Region
Hoboken II Ball Breakers
Dumpster Fire Frosty Balls
Lock It Up Make It Rain
The Show Must Go On Sloppy Seconds
Chuckle United Tiki Titans
DC/Tidewater Region Southeast Region
Ballers and Shot Callers Make It Hail
Bonsai Kittens One Night Stand
Insemigators Perfect Strangers
The Others 8 and 1/2 inches
The Emperors Club Fighting Mongooses
Third String All-Stars Duck Butter
Single Elimination Tournament
All twenty-two (22) teams will advance to the single elimination tournament bracket.
Tournament seeding will be determined by the Pool Play results.
The sort order is: Win% - Head-to-Head - Total RA - Best Initial Seed.
Sorting will be 1A (first drawn) is the best seed for the purposes of the last tiebreaker explanation in the initial packet.
Play-in and the first round-of-16 games will consist of 5-inning/50 minutes, whichever comes first, with regular rules. If the game is tied at the end of 5 innings or 50 minutes, beginning in the 6th inning teams may only field 8 players on the field (4 of each gender), including the catcher, and the last kicker from the previous inning should start the next inning on 2nd base. The 6th and 7th innings will be played this way. At the end of the 7th inning, if the game is still a tie, furthest kick will determine the winner.
Quarterfinal and Semifinal games
Will run for 5 innings with regular rules. If the game is tied at the end of 5 innings, beginning in the 6th inning teams may only field 8 players on the field (4 of each gender), including the catcher, and the last kicker from the previous inning should start the next inning on 2nd base. The 6th and 7th innings will be played this way. At the end of the 7th inning, if the game is still a tie, furthest kick will determine the winner.
For Furthest Kick, both teams take the field. Each team should pick one pitcher and one kicker. Each team pitches to their own kicker. Kickers get three (3) tries to kick as far as they can. Wherever the ball lands is where it is marked, but opposing team members may knock the ball out of the air, and wherever they were standing becomes the mark.
Championship Game
The final game goes until one team is declared the winner.
The Championship Game will run for 5 innings with regular rules.

Things to Remember About DC in July
During the summer months, Washington, DC can get hot, humid and uncomfortable.
Late July and most of August are a good time to stay indoors in the air conditioning.
July Average high temperature: 89 and the Average low temperature: 67.
For an up-to-date weather forecast, see the Weather Channel or the Washington Post.
Use zip code 20024 for an accurate weather reading.
Things to Remember BEFORE You Show Up
If your Captain did NOT sign your team up for the t-shirt package, then you can purchase your individual event Kickball365 Open T-Shirt at http://kickball365open2009.eventbrite.com
If you plan on coming to DC on Friday night, then plan on attending the Meet & Greet at Grand Central DC Bar (Red Line on the DC Metro exit at Adams Morgan). Here we will be drawing the pool assignments for Pool Play while enjoying the Happy Hour Specials!
If you are a Captain, then we encourage you to attend this. This is not mandatory. Our volunteers & staff will be handing out a lot of information that night (additional Captains Packets, waivers for your team to sign, locations, maps, etc.) and we would like to meet all of the Captains face-to-face before the event on Saturday.
The location of the fields, which is Hains Point and the north tip of Ohio Dr SW, is a little far away from the fast food joints. In fact, most of where we'll be doesn't have fast food. So, we will be offering a BBQ lunch for the players & guests. We highly encourage everyone to purchase a $5 ticket for the BBQ Lunch. Menu is included in this packet.
After the tournament we are hosting the After Party. You're coming right? Of course you are! Make sure you grab your ticket online! We're purchasing 10 kegs from 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. We will have a private party upstairs and the bar downstairs will also be available during this time. There will be a DJ upstairs.
Have a tent for Saturday? Bring it. Teams are encouraged to bring tents because it might get a little hot out there! Please realize you cannot drive stakes into the ground to secure your tent.
Bring the water for you, your teammates, and your pets. I cannot stress this enough. Please bring bottled water to the tournament. Yes, we plan to have a couple of coolers of water for the lunch crowd (and refs/volunteers), but please do not rely on Kickball365 to be your watering hole for this event.

Thanks to KickballLegends.com we are now offering the Official National Fan Poll for the Kickball365 Open Tournament! Think you know who is going to win the tournament? Then cast your vote by visiting http://www.kickballlegends.com/k365openpoll/ today!
